NHS Blood & Transplant
NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) manages the UK national voluntary donation system for blood, tissues, organs and stem cells. The Cellular and Molecular Therapies (CMT) Function within NHSBT is responsible for the provision of stem cells for transplant across the country and for the development and manufacture of novel advanced cell therapies that fall under MHRA regulations as ATMPs. NHSBT strategy is to support the provision of advanced therapies to patients through the use of its licensed GMP clean rooms, expert staff and laboratory support services including therapeutic apheresis and supply of blood products for research and starting material. The CMT function works with academic and commercial organisations across the EU and worldwide to promote, develop and supply new bio-therapies as part of clinical trials as well as licensed products. With extensive experience and a proven delivery record, NHSBT has the capability to deliver cells and plasmids under GMP for a wide range of cells types and disorders.
